ARE YOU A NEW YEAR CLUTTER BUSTER?
Are you feeling the pressure? The buzz words around at this time of the year are always ‘DECLUTTER” & “get more organised.”
Everyone seems to be talking about it. How they are going to declutter their stuff for a lighter and more organised year. Where ever you look there is a quote an article or a tweet about it.
Why do people choose this time of the year to declutter and tidy? Well, it is the one time of the year that they have some spare time to do just that.
I know, you are thinking “it is my time off to do nothing and I don’t want to be doing 100 projects around the house! ‘ Right?
I feel the same but also realise that we need to use the time we do have effectively. I have found a good solution is to tackle just a few of the projects I have written down.
I plan these and get them done as close to the start of my break as possible. Check out my action plan blog here to help you plan and prioritise.
Then we are done and dusted and can enjoy the rest of the break guilt free!
All good and well you say, but how do I get started?
Funny thing is people always feel that delcuttering and getting organised is complicated, costly and time consuming but in fact it is none of these things.
It is really simple.
Every item you pick up will only be dealt with in one of two ways
KEEP or RELEASE. (KEEP THIS MANTRA IN MIND)
How do you decide the answer?
Ask the three critical questions:
DO I USE IT
DO I NEED IT
DO I LOVE IT
Your answers will guide you to make the choice.
If you answer 2 or 3 NO’S it needs to be released to someone else who can now use, need and love it or 2 or 3 YES’S you should keep it because you do still use, need and love it!
Simple, quick and doable!
So there you go – now you can join the NEW YEAR CLUTTER BUSTERS and clear the way for a lighter and less cluttered life too.
Don’t overdo it. Remember to enjoy your time off too – there are still another 364, 3, 2. 1…. days to go!
