PAPERWORK TIPS

Here are some tips to ensure those bills get paid on time and you find what you need when you need it!

A PLACE FOR YOUR PAPER TO LAND – where does your paper tend to land?

Do you love to go to the post box ??  I think it is exciting getting the post .. that is until we see only widow envelopes !! Once we see it is boring old bills we tend to

dump it .. sometimes in the car, at the front door!

Your paper NEEDS A PLACE TO LAND!

Start with a fresh IN TRAY in a fixed LOCATION

Eg office,  hallway,  kitchen counter

  • Place a REWARD on the bottom
  • Schedule TIMES to empty your in-tray- MIN ONCE A WEEK
  • Start at the TOP and it can never go BACK
  • Ask the critical question:

What IS THE VERY NEXT THING I NEED TO DO WITH YOU ?”

Date Stamp everything that comes in!

Date Stamp all paperwork as it comes in

including all bills, letters business cards, forms

that  way you always know when that paper arrived .. anytime you action something on that piece of paper , date stamp again – now you will end up with a legend on your paper

Always remember HORIZONTAL is your ENEMY  and VERTICAL is your FRIEND

Horizontal paper means PILES

Vertical paper means being ORGANISED

There are only TYPES OF PAPER

Action PAPER

( Paper that you need to do something with eg: Pay a bill )

or

Reference PAPER – paper that may need to be referenced but you don’t need to do anything with eg: Bank Statements
